Latif Ladid, president of IPv6 Forum, today announced the appointment of Mr Yusuf Bhaiji, Chairman Networkers’ Society of Pakistan, as the new President of IPv6 Forum. Here is the announcement:

It’s my great pleasure to announce to the IPv6 Forum Pakistan list that we have won Yusuf Bhaiji to lead this new initiative as its president and progress the overall mission of this forum to peer with the other 40 chapters around the world and drive the many tasks started to fruition.

I trust you will all join me in supporting Yusuf in this expanded responsibility on top of his compatible NSP activities.

I wish to take the opportunity to express my great pleasure in working with all of you to advance the IPv6 Forum Pakistan to the same level as its peers and lift up the political and business community to a higher level of awareness and action putting Pakistan on the IPv6 worldwide map.

Latif Ladid,
President IPv6 Forum

With a die-hard technologist like Yusuf at the helm of the affairs of IPv6 Forum Pakistan, we have all the reasons to anticipate exciting, and practical advancement in the IPv6 adoption activities in Pakistan.

A number of NSP members (and ‘aspiring members’) have expressed their interest in finding new jobs for themselves. Senior industry insiders close to Networkers’ Society of Pakistan too expressed their wish to hire new talent for their growing needs through the social network of NSP.

Helping its members with their professional careers’ development is a direct benefit of a social cobweb of NSP. While we develop a useful and easy-to-use careers development module to the NSP site for our members, we will be posting useful job opportunity announcements to our Careers section.

Today, we have posted one such announcement relating to Telecommuting VoIP Jobs in Pakistan.

More Snaps Online

August 11, 2006

Okay, for all those who were there (or wished they were there) can now see the snaps of the SANOG8 event online here. We have tried to describe those pictures in detail where we caught foreign visitors so that we can have a good memory.

Again, we will request that those who are privately uploading their snaps online, please tag them as sanog8 so that we can see them all in one place.

Temporary Site Outage

August 9, 2006

NSP’s main website is temporarily out of service. Our service provider decided to shift our account to a new server without considering the age-old make-before-break principle. Please bear with us as we sort this out. We will keep updating the blog in the meanwhile.

Thrilled & Excited!

August 6, 2006

SANOG8 ended with the embedded event of the launch of the IPv6 Forum of Pakistan yesterday (Saturday). The extensive technical session was addressed by Latif Ladid, President IPv6 Forum who came to Pakistan for this launch ceremony. Besides, Khalid Raza, Distinguished Engineer of Cisco Systems and Salman Asadullah, Technical Leader at Cisco Systems and author of one of the related draft (on its way to become an RFC) spoke extensively at the occasion on technical topics related to IPv6 and its deployment.

We have two major announcements to make here:

  1. An announcement-only list nsp-announce is being set up for all those who attended SANOG 8 as well as IPv6 Forum launch on Saturday. Please use this page to subscribe yourself to this list to keep abreast with new announcements and other information coming out of NSP. This is not the NSP members list. This is just a one-way list to quickly reach to everyone involved in these activities irrespective of their NSP membership status.
  2. NSP Membership is open to interested individuals. Please visit our website’s membership page to apply for the membership online. Just a quick note, (only) under-grad students can apply for Student membership which has an associated fee of Rs 3,000 per year and professionals can apply for the Professional membership which has a fee of Rs 6,000 per year. Membership benefits include social networking, free or heavily subsidized technical and educational events organized by the society throughout the year. Payments should be made as advised on the NSP website.
